Thanks for checking out my bio page. my name is Lissa, and Leif Leather was created out of my love of all things art. The name Leif Leather came about from the very first leather project I did. Leif is an archaic word meaning beloved among other things. I actually never did leather tooling until five years ago. I had just met my now husband, and I needed a new phone case for my phone. I was going to buy one, and my husband said “lets just make one”. He took me out to his workshop, and proceeded to show me how to cut, design, tool, and dye leather. In one afternoon I had a beautiful custom made phone case from my beloved man. I was in love! And from there I spent many hours at the leather bench learning and creating all kinds of projects. Fast forward four years. Since then I’ve weathered sub-zero temperatures in a camper, married the love of my life, and with my husband, and family built our home from the ground up. “Dream big, start small” is what I keep telling myself, and now I am very excited to share my start as a leather maker with all of you. All of my pieces are designed, hand made, and finished by me, and are a unique, wearable piece of art. I hope you enjoy wearing them as much as I love creating them.
